Huichol art originated in the mountains of Mexico. It resides in an ancestral tradition, the physical transcription of images exhibited by Huichol shamans, induced by the ingestion of Peyote (hikuri), their sacred cactus, allowing them to cross the threshold of the unknown and therefore to approach the divine. .
This work is made with yarn (Yarn Painting), and glued with campeche wax, its most traditional form, it tells us a sacred episode of Wixarika mythology, rich in symbols linked to their belief. The wolf is the ancestor who symbolizes Justice and tests the apprentices Marakames (Shaman) during 3 nights during which they must give their offerings. It is by invoking it that the spirit of the Wolf will present itself and if it passes the test in all serenity and courage, they will approach their spiritual quest to advance in their initiation rite.
